SUMMARY:Growing Food in an Urban Environment
DESCRIPTION:The breakdown of supply chains due to Covid and Brexit is a timely reminder of what the future may hold when the climate crisis starts to really hit our food supplies.\nWe will need to rely much more on local food and will be wanting to grow our own wherever possible. To tell us more about growing food locally we will be joined by:\nWill Benson of Applegarth Farm ( blank ), where they grow food for their restaurant in aeroponic towers and can measure their food miles in feet.\nAnd Glyn Jones who has had spectacular success (including a prize from Alton in Bloom) with his “No dig” allotment here in Alton.\nPlease email altonclimatenetwork@gmail.com ( blank ) to register for this event and let us know whether you want the online link or intend to come to the Community Centre in person (there is no limit for the online meeting but we need to get an idea of numbers for the face to face meeting in case we need to move to a bigger room!)\n
