Hi, i’ve just found your site but cannot join the Zoom due to an previous commitment -I am writing as Chair of Trustees of Tiyeni, an agricultural training organisations with all Malawi staff, based in Mzuzu and supported by fundraising trustees in UK. We started in 2005 but really by 2012 we had an agricultural methodology ready for upscaling using 38 farmers. This farming method is closely allied to conservation agriculture, and permaculture with a few adjustments, but the net result is that yields of crops have increased from between 250 and 400 % in the first year, with lower input costs. In fact we have been asked to make a series of presentation to the Scottish permaculture association linked to Dr Elaine Ingham’s Soil Food Web.
I am based in Hampshire and know Alton well, and as much of the Malawi team’s work now is with groups of young men as well as family farmers in Malawi, it would seem that it might be interesting to have a brief chat so where we might work together – or at least be aware of each others’ activities and methods.
If you wanted to check Tiyeni out before replying please see our website ( built free of charge) https://www.tiyeni.org/ I look forward to hearing from you Colin Andrews 01425 652813 /07887 923 656
