ACAN has been awarded a grant by Alton Town Council from the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy, for a project to engage with residents living in some of the town’s new housing estates on environmental and social issues, raising awareness of ACAN’s work, helping to develop social networks and offering people pathways to action.
To support ACAN’s volunteers, we are looking to appoint a consultant with expertise and experience in community engagement, and a good understanding of climate crisis mitigation, adaptation, and nature recovery. The consultant will work alongside ACAN’s committed core group of volunteers and its network of a dozen community action groups (see home page of our website)
The project will build on experience gained over the last year with ACAN’s Eco-Streets project https://altonclimatenetwork.org.uk/our-groups/eco-streets-alton/ which has used surveys, creative workshops, exhibitions, street parties, social media, leafleting and conversations on the street as ways of engaging people.
The consultant will be appointed for between one and two years (to be confirmed), and will be expected to work, flexibly and on average, 6-8 hours per week. The total consultancy fee will be £9,000.
