It’s easy to include your wildlife-friendly garden on the Greening Alton map. Just email ACAN’s James Willis, who created it and manages it, on altonclimatenetwork@gmail.com. If you can, send a photo or two and a couple of lines of text describing your patch (see example in the picture) – this is not essential but it does bring it alive for visitors to the site.
But the important thing is to get in touch. Only a small part of your garden needs to be wildlife-friendly, and even a planter helps our beleaguered pollinators and butterflies.
Only your road/street will be identified – we do not publish names or house numbers to protect privacy.
The Greening Alton interactive Google map has now (mid-Sept 2024) had over 7,400 views!

Greening Alton is an initiative from ACAN group AVLAN (Alton and Villages Local Action for Nature). It is inspiring a movement across the town to map and link green spaces, to improve local biodiversity and join up corridors for pollinators and butterflies. It contributes to the determined national push by all the major wildlife charities to help nature recover and thrive. Everyone’s contribution makes a difference.
