Alton Town Council has published a briefing document: “Kings Pond – The Next Steps in Deciding the Way Forward” – click on the link to download it:
This document sets out two options ( the “dredging option” and the “pond and river option”) and the information that has led Alton Town Council to these options.
ATC has arranged three public briefing and discussion sessions about the options. The King’s Pond Project is a deeply significant issue in terms of benefits to current and future generations of residents, as well as the cost and potential environmental benefit and impact. It is important that as many people as possible are involved in discussing the briefing document. Everyone is encouraged to attend at least one of the public meetings.
The dates, times and locations are:
Tuesday 19th November
Royal British Legion, Anstey Park
Briefing to start at 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Tuesday 26th November
Assembly Rooms, High Street
Briefing to start at 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Tuesday 3rd December
Alton Social Bowls Club, Chawton Park Road
Briefing to start at 2:00pm to 4:00pm
The Town Council is already committed to a detailed assessment of the “dredging option”. The next Full Town Council Meeting on 8th January will decide whether to investigate in detail the “pond and river option” as well as the “dredging option”.
