AVLAN Riverfly kick-sampling for invertebrates – Flood Meadows (but venue to be confirmed)
Come along to join an enthusiastic group of AVLAN volunteers at 10.00 am on Saturday 5th September for about an hour. We will be kick-sampling for invertebrates, such as cased caddis, freshwater shrimp and mayfly larvae, which are all indicators of water quality.
It’s interesting and fun!
We usually kicksample in Flood Meadows (near the bridge down the path from the entrance on the Basingstoke Road). However, if the river is very low at the end of a long dry summer, we will move to the Bank Car Park. This post will be updated at the beginning of September.
