With funding from the Community Lottery, ACAN’s youth eco-group, Young ACAN, has surveyed local children and young people, revealing widespread anxiety and fear about the climate crisis, and a view that they are being failed by adults. The survey report can be downloaded here
National and international surveys have reported similar findings.
Encouragingly, respondents felt that the local community of Alton and its local Council cared about climate change and the future of the planet in the same way that they do. But they want to see far more action.
ACAN is holding an important public online meeting on Monday 10th October from 7.30 – 9.30 pm to share ideas on how we can help our children and young people respond to their anxiety about the climate crisis and their perceptions of lack of action
Here is the Zoom link for the meeting. https://tinyurl.com/3vrmd4f7
- Create more opportunities for children and young people to talk about the climate crisis
- Offer support to those who are suffering from climate anxiety
- Offer young people more opportunities to take action, including involvement with nature
- Scale up action by the local community and government so that young people no longer feel they are being failed by adults
Please read the report. Please talk about it. And please come to the meeting.
