The videos below, received in February 2024 from Patrick Kamzitu, the Gumbi Education Fund co-ordinator in the Gumbi villages, take us on a tour of some of the farm, which has developed greatly over the last few months. Do listen to Patrick’s commentary with each video. The fruit trees include guava, pawpaws, mazhanje ( sugar fruits) and buddha fruit. The composting and manure system is quite new and very important for crop yield, as this is an organic farm, not using any artificial fertilisers (which are very expensive and environmentally-damaging) – this is still quite unusual in Malawi.
