Our vision is to create a Community-led Kitchen Garden within Alton. The aim of the project is for a welcoming community hub for growing, learning, volunteering and connecting, bringing people together through a shared relationship with the land and the outdoors.

Gardening and spending time outdoors can support mental and physical wellbeing, while providing opportunities to develop practical skills, build confidence and form new connections. This project will help local people learn to grow fruit and vegetables, growing sustainably, and techniques suited to a changing climate.

Proposed activities will include parent and toddler groups, school visits, family sessions, opportunities for adults experiencing health challenges, and activities for retired people.

Through Grow–Cook–Eat–Share, people can learn how to turn freshly harvested produce into simple meals and share food and friendship.

Open days, seasonal events and volunteering will bring the wider community together.

The project aims to create a fun, regular and valued part of community life, helping people learn, contribute, share experiences and build lasting relationships.
