“A FRUIT TREE IN EVERY GARDEN” IS BACK!

GREAT NEWS – PeCAN’s ‘A Fruit Tree in Every Garden’ initiative, offering fruit trees at subsidised prices, is back! Last year, the partnership between PeCAN and ACAN enabled 100 fruit trees to be distributed to residents of Alton and the surrounding villages. Let’s see if we can distribute even more this winter.

Each fruit tree costs just £12 (cheaper than last year!) and comes with a stake and instructions on how to plant. These trees usually cost between £25 – £35 but you can buy them at less than half price.

Go to https://petersfieldcan.org/projects/trees to order fruit trees (max 5 per household).

During this year’s first round of orders you will have the chance to order either 2-year old bare root trees, or younger potted trees which are perfect for training. You can also order hedging plants (for collection in Feb 24) if you want to replace a fence or create a new hedge in your garden.  All trees are £12 each and the hedging is completely free!  Please only order a maximum of 5 fruit trees per household.

All trees ordered from this round will need to be collected from Petersfield Community Garden on Saturday 25th November at the Tree Festival.

A second round of orders will open in December, for collection in Alton on 24th February from Edgar Hall, Anstey Park.

Thanks to a newly established partnership with The Tree Council, PeCAN are also offering free hedging plants for anyone who wishes to replace a fence or create a new hedgerow.

Petersfield Tree Festival is a special event run in partnership with PeCAN, Petersfield Community Garden, The Tree Council, and East Hampshire District Council, to celebrate the benefits of trees and learn more about them. This event on Saturday 25th November will offer free workshops on how to plant and raise trees, with sessions on tree care, planting, pruning, grafting on rootstock and fan training, as well as expert advice – and much more!
